GHGx Launches innovative ‘Kids for Climate’ Program
in the Fight Against Global Climate Change

Toronto, Canada – GHGx© Corporation (Greenhouse Gas Exchange) has marked the day that the Kyoto Protocol becomes Canadian and international law that it has initiated an innovative new program called “Kids for Climate”.

Dan Goldberger, a Director of the Toronto-based company, stated “our staff has received many inquiries from kids and their families who wonder what they can do to help the environment and get involved in the Kyoto process. Unfortunately transaction and legal costs as well as minimum trade values that bilateral brokers require create a disincentive to trading small amounts of credits. We believe that there should be an incentive – not disincentive – to creating, and trading, credits – no matter how big or small. We set ourselves a mission to develop a program to address these issues. The program is called ‘Kids for Climate (kidsforclimate.org) and it provides an inexpensive mechanism for sequestering GHG emissions and trading the credits that are developed in addition to the tonnes of pure clean oxygen that are a by-product of these activities.”

Dan Goldberger, stated “we need to be sending the correct signals to all people that they can participate in this process, not just large emitters and industry. The Kyoto Protocol is a mechanism by which various processes may be modified to benefit the environment, society and create new sources of wealth. It is not an end in itself but a method to assist us in transitioning from our present unsustainable acitvities to a brighter, more sustainable and healthier future.” Mr. Goldberger further stated that “the Kids for Climate program enmraces the spirit and letter of Article 6 of the Kyoto Protocol with respect to ‘Education, Training and Public Awareness’. The Kyoto Protocol will be successful if everyone that can participate does and this requires an understanding of the myriad of ways that they can do so. This program begins the learning cycle.”
